Building Abilities

Chris Guillen October 20, 2025

For 23 years I've been working with the Shirley Ryan AbilityLab. Typically, I'm brought in to photograph the incredible and tireless people working within this hospital. Or, do my best to highlight the amazing stories of patients who are making great strides to overcome traumatic injuries or other unfortunate complications of their health. I've often said, "This is the greatest place on earth that you really don't want anyone you know to have to visit. The people working here are so beautiful, so positive. Always maximizing the abilities of their patients." Their lobby has a large wall that says "The Soul Moves First." The energy here encapsulates that statement.

As life would have it, over the last several years I've known two close friends who've had strokes, and have been patients at the Shirley Ryan AbilityLab. I am so grateful to witness the level of care these friends and their families received. This hospital focuses on building peoples'abilities. Taking patients from where they are when they arrive, and working to maximize their future. Uplifting them from the inside out. Positively building abilities.

This is our 9th year participating in SkyRise. We have 14+ powerful climbers on our Building Abilities team. We have a team goal of at least $3k-last year we were fortunate to raise close to $7k and we'd like to top that. I could really use your support to help make that goal a reality!

Please donate as you are able for this incredible hospital. Any amount is appreciated.

It's a tax-deductible donation. The process is fast and easy to do, and many will benefit from your generosity.

Thank you for your support! Together we can make a difference.
